I'm a new fan of the Flaming Lips and I was wondering if you all had any suggestions for the best place to start with their discography?

Transmissions from the Satellite Heart is one of my favorites.. Then there's the classic Soft Bulletin album!! Also Yoshimi.. Their cover of Dark Side of the Moon will blow your mind!! And their film Christmas On Mars will change your life!! ( : And can't forget the fearless freaks documentary!! Prepare to be AMAZED my friend!!! And welcome to the crazy world of The Flaming Lips!!

I started with "The Day Andy Gibb Died".
The Soft Bulletin would be a good album to initiate yourself, but I think watching Fearless Freaks (It's on Netflix) would be the best way to learn about them.

I started the day Yoshimi came out and the day after I got every other record they had. Yoshimi was a life changing event for me. Loved the lips ever since.

start with clouds taste metallic then move to yoshimi battles the pink robots then just explore from there on out

Clouds Taste Metallic and Embryonic are my favorites. Clouds Taste Metallic is probably a better one to start with though.
