You need to apologize.
I've been a fan of your music for years and a admirer of how the Flaming Lips can push the envelope in just about every medium. The Lips music has got me through some of the toughest times of my life. ( I even have two FL tattoos)
Please apologize. Please don't throw your support behind a woman who is obviously taking a dig at the Native American population. In Oklahoma, no less. Wearing a headdress is just as offensive as blackface. Your music has emitted so much love, please don't be blind to what is obviously racially offensive.
I doubt this is how the rest of the Lips feel. I was looking forward to seeing you for the 4th time at Bonnaroo, but I can't attend your show in good conscience. I'm sure others will do the same. Do the right thing. I know you're famous and it's not fair to hold you to impossible standards. But, this is too big to miss. The sooner you get out in front of this the sooner your fans won't have to walk way. Please do the right thing, Wayne. We all make mistakes.

It is so sad.
I keep reading things and trying to make sense of.. well my feelings.. mostly..
I agree that dressing up as a member of a marginalized group of people is not politically correct. Not only is it not politically correct, it is also insensitive and cruel.
I am shocked that Wayne would engage in such behavior.
I am also shocked by some of the language I see other (former)fans using. Some folks have been using words that also cause pain to marginalized groups of people.
This whole thing has revealed something disappointing about Wayne, but it has also revealed something about some of my fellow fans. Please do not use language that derogatory toward others. Do not tell Wayne he was wrong by calling him female or queer.
Check your language.

I am very dissapointed as well as my brothers and sisters in the cosmos. wtf!!!! What happened_to killing the ego Wayne ??? you should chill on the negative substances and people your associated with. I feel bad for Steven , Michael , Derek and the roadies
