Guiness Book of World Records attempt?

I've heard a little rumor that The Flaming Lips were going to be doing an attempt for most live shows or something of that nature, and that they were going to be playing my small US southern town, and I'm sure many others. I can't seem to find any info confirming this though. Anyone else heard of such a thing? According to the rumor, tickets are only available through VH1, but see nothing on their tour dates indicating a stop here. Wondering if I should be giddy with anticipation or slap my self on the face for almost being gullible enough to fully believe this.

I heard from a friend who works a local venue that the lips were booking shows for such an event. I have also tried to find out how to get tickets without any luck as well.
