Apologies and disappointment in PA

I want to offer my deepest and sincerest apologies to the Lips for Pittsburgh. I have dreamed of seeing the Lips live since I first heard them way back in '95. They did not receive the respect they deserve in Pittsburgh.
All I can say is what happened to the Pittsburghian people? Whatever happened to just going to a show to enjoy the experience, the music, and the band? Whatever happened to getting sooooo excited that you leave the show feeling like a limp noodle from showing the utmost enthusiasm as a fan? When did it become acceptable to play on your phone or converse with your neighbor ABOUT playing on your phone while artists are pouring out their soul?
The Lips are definitely an acquired audio taste but visually, I haven't seen showmanship like that in years!
The crowd there has become stale and flush with youth that has no respect for what music brings to the betterment of their lives. The Keys also experienced the same disrespect, and so did GreenDay when I saw them there last month.
I hope the Lips will never play Pittsburgh again. For that fact I hope no one ever plays there again. I traveled almost 300 miles to Pittsburgh to see BOTH bands and was completely disgusted by the crowd as a whole for ruining the show. The only redemption was the mind blowing synthesis that the Lips delivered. Again, my sincerest apologies to both the Lips and the Keys.

I experienced something similar in the UK. Members of the audience constantly on thier phones and conversing with thier neighbour. This almost resulted in fight at one gig (My Morning Jacket) and a curtailed and disappointing gig as the artist (Richard Hawley)was hacked off by the lack of attention. Don't know what the problem is but suspect that the youth of today have the attention span of a gnat. Its not necessarily their fault but suspect that with the advant of digital music where you can skip tracks & fast forward at a press of a button its so easy to move on when you get a little bored. Going to the Lips at the Roundhouse in May and if I see anyone, including my daughter, using a mobile I'll politely ask them to switch it off!

Ya Im actually baffled that your eyes would be any where except on stage, there needs to be more awareness about this sort of thing. I couldnt agree with you more, and mmj live?? they had my damn spirit let alone my eyes on stage, transcendent experience, these people may just learn or even feel something if they just unplug for a while.
